GSU officer sentenced to two years

Complaints received by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office led to an investigation in which an undercover agent allegedly had money stolen out of his car during a traffic stop and was also asked for cash to avoid charges.
Jackson initially entered a plea of not guilty in June 2006, but withdrew that plea and pled guilty to five counts of malfeasance in November. Third Judicial District Judge Wayne Smith sentenced him to two years on each count, totaling 10 years.
However, all but two years of that sentence was suspended.

Help many others to see clearly

School of Art Director Jonathan Donehoo said just about everyone should have the ability to donate to the drive.
“The purpose is to gather all those old eyeglasses people don’t use any more that they are keeping in drawers somewhere,” he said. “This way we can put old eyeglasses to good use, rather than let them just sit there and gather dust.”

Lyons going to ‘Top 28’ hall

As sure as another LHSAA season tips off in November, so it is expected for his Kittens’ teams to win a district championship, corner victories in the bi-district, regional and quarterfinal rounds and then pack up for the “Top 28” tournament.
“Coach Lyons does a tremendous job with his program,” said head coach Kyle Hill of Cedar Creek High during his debut season with the latter team during the 2005-2006 season. “He’s one of the great coaches in our state and he always has his teams ready to play hard and with a lot of intensity.”

Residents catch glimpse of China

•China is a huge bureaucracy. The term could be applied to everything from commercial licensing to university entrance examinations.
•The country as it exists today is largely communist party driven. There are some areas of corruption especially in terms of licensing fees and regulations.
•China is made up of massive territories which each have their own form of dynamism from business growth supported by a huge work force.
•The links of commerce and government are extensive and complicated with highly developed fields in such things as engineering and porcelain manufacture.
