A short altercation followed and the men apparently struck the victim — a Louisiana Tech student of Indian descent — several times, Clark said. Dooley and his co-defendant, identified as Justin Pipes, ran off when the authorities were called.
Dooley, 24, was arrested last week at the Ruston Civic Center on warrants charging simple battery and hate crimes after being spotted by a Ruston officer, who verified he had active warrants with the GPD.
He was released on $4,000 bond and is due to appear in court Feb. 21.
