Techsters bounce back with win

“That was a dagger in the heart when we lost to Boise State,” noted senior forward Amber Metoyer. “It hurts when you lose a winning streak that had been going on for 15 years. But in practice on Sunday, the coaches told us to keep our heads up and come out ready to play against another good team.”
Tech did just that against Utah State, a club with arguably the quickest set of guards in the league and yet another extremely athletic squad bent on trying to shock the Ruston squad on their own court.

LPL programs benefit area

This program is free and open to the public and is sponsored, in part, by the Friends of the Library.
The parish library hosts many programs and events throughout the year, including monthly S.E.L.L.S. programs for seniors and also brings in members of the Strauss Theatre to perform for children and for the young-at-heart. The Historical Happenings programs have grown each month, and the speakers are not only informative, but they are entertaining and educated on the subjects they speak on.

Puppy love is waiting for you

Last week, Lynn called me up worried that 4-PAWS might be forced to close. This stirred up panic in the parish, and I have never received so much reader feedback over a story as I did the first 4-PAWS story I wrote last week. However, I was thankful to report later in the week that Sheriff Mike Stone said that 4-PAWS would not have to close its doors.
“We have had complaints in the area, and we need to work together to satisfy the neighbors’ complaints — the dogs being out, roaming around and barking issues, too — while helping 4-PAWS,” Stone said.

NAACP speaker stresses value of vote

“And one of the major responsibilities is the active participation in our government. It does not matter that we are guaranteed the vote by the Constitution. We have to value that vote because we have not always been able to use it. And that right and privilege should be exercised as soon as the legal age to vote is reached.”
