Parish footballers near openers

Friday night’s action will include Ruston High at Monroe Neville, Cedar Creek at home against Delhi Charter and Grambling High at Arcadia; all of those games will start at 7 p.m.
The weekend begins a proverbially busy fall slate for parish teams, most notable being Oct. 13 when all three of the prep teams will be playing on their own turfs.
Ruston High meets up with Natchitoches-Central, Cedar Creek goes up against Monroe St. Frederick and Grambling High deals with Bernice on that date.

Also, as Lincoln Parish has seen little rain during this summer, watering one’s lawn in the middle of the afternoon not only wastes water, it also is not as beneficial as it would be later on in the day.
If area residents water their grass in the morning or late evening, the water will not evaporate as much, which will save water and money.

September fly-in to take off in Ruston

However, as most EAA members build their own aircraft, Spivey explained many of the planes do not have transponders to communicate with the tower. So the organization decided to move the event to the Ruston Regional Airport.
“Ruston has more traffic than Monroe, but it’s mostly single-engine airplanes,” Spivey said. “We’re looking forward to it. There are going to be a lot of interesting airplanes to admire.”
Spivey said a showcase event would be held, which would allow pilots who choose to fly around the airport and give a low approach. Another event would be a spot-landing contest.
