Citizens robbed while they sleep

The first report was on July 1 and concerned the theft of three purses from a house in the 600 block of S. Barnett Springs.
Kavanaugh said the theft is believed to have occurred overnight.
The residents in a second incident on the same road were awakened July 16 when a dog began barking, Kavanaugh said.
“We investigated a burglary in progress call at approximately 6 a.m. in the 1500 block of S. Barnett Springs, where a female had been awakened and found a white male in the residence,” he said.

Tolbert named to All-American team

The 5-10 and 215-pounder was joined at the wideout slot on the second team by Tony Kays of the University of California-Davis.
Named to the first team at the position were David Ball of New Hampshire and Laurent Robinson of Illinois State.
“Just to be considered for All-American is a great honor and now it’s up to me to live up to the expectations,” Tolbert said.
“What really counts is what is accomplished when the season begins. That’s what matters the most and I hope to do my part in helping us have another great season like we did last year.

Handmade quilts offer comfort to ill

“A friend of mine in Alexandria told me about an organization called Prayers and Squares,” Strawbridge said. “She said I could go to the Web site (www.prayerquilt.org) and get all kinds of information, so I did that and signed up.”
At that time she pastored in Choudrant, and when she signed up the Methodist church there, the organization sent a package with pins, labels and needles to help her begin the quilt ministry.
