Teachers’ ‘13th check’ higher

The check amounts are based on sales tax revenue for Lincoln Parish.
Other figures which appear positive are the Health Care funds for Lincoln Parish School System employees.
“We’re ‘in the good’ by $257,000,” Murphy said. “Last year we were dealing with a deficit, so this is encouraging news. Hopefully, the trend will continue.”

Morgan has mom at center stage

She is far away from where her son competes on the outdoor track and field circuit for Louisiana Tech University, but she is certainly never far from Jason’s thoughts.
Home for the Morgans is in Kingston, Jamaica, where Verna still lives and where she played an inspirational role in Jason becoming one of that country’s most successful field events’ competitors ever.
“She and I are very, very close,” Morgan offered the other day, prior to going through a workout in preparation for this week’s NCAA outdoor championship meet in Sacramento, Calif.

GSU family should come together

A recent meeting by Judson’s detractors shows just how little support these former employees and their supporters have. Barely 50 showed up at Mt. Zion Baptist Church to rehash the same issues this small group has complained about since December 2005 — admissions standards and layoffs.
Judson has continued to make decisions based on what is best for Grambling State University. He has not fallen prey to the heavy-handed pressure of Grambling University National Alumni Association president James Bradford.
