Bulldogs grit out tough win

With crucial seeding implications for the Western Athletic Conference postseason tournament on the line, the Bulldogs overcame that deficit with a gritty defensive performance — holding Hawaii to just 12 points over the final 20 minutes.
“We had a tremendous second half defensively,” Tech head coach Keith Richard said. “Unbelievable. We played with great energy here tonight.
It was nice to hold a team to such a low total in the second half.”

Taking a trip down memory lane

In the past week and a half alone, I (or my wife) have driven roughly 2,000 miles. Next week that total will continue to grow.
All of that time spent in a car has allowed me to take a trip down memory lane to some of my college road trips.
I’ll be the first to admit I have no claim as the “King of Roadtrippers.” However, I did develop a slight reputation for being willing to take off at a moment’s notice.

Techsters, ’Dogs honored in WAC

The rookie head coach of Louisiana Tech University’s Lady Techsters hasn’t wasted any time in earning a prestigious award as the leader of one of the most successful basketball programs for women in the country.
On Sunday afternoon, Long was announced as the Coach of the Year in the Western Athletic Conference after guiding the top 20 nationally ranked club to a regular season league championship and No. 1 seed in this week’s postseason tournament.

LGH hosts health fair

Martha Vail, LGH’s director of marketing, said mainly the vendors were in the health care industry, though the booths ranged from blood screenings to assisted living services to health insurance.
“Anything that has anything to do with health care we try to offer. The Lincoln General staff enjoys doing this every year. It’s a good service for the community,” Vail said. “It promotes good health and good awareness for the community.”
Vail said 50 to 60 of Lincoln General’s employees either helped organize the fair or were working at it on Saturday.
