Look out for moving deer

Capt. Wesley Harris said when a motorist does spot a deer, the driver should slow down dramatically and be ready for the animal to dart unexpectedly into the road. Headlights should also be dimmed because bright lights apparently have a paralyzing effect on deer. Motorists should honk the horn in an attempt to scare the deer away and be prepared for the animal to run in the vehicle’s path.

Worldwide epidemic hits home

Sure, it’s a morbid thought but we all begin moving toward death the moment we take our first breath.
Sometimes, in my more pensive moods, I wonder if I’ll pass away peacefully at the age of 99 or become a statistic.
One thing that had never crossed my mind as a possible scenario was dying from AIDS. According to many testimonials that flooded the airwaves on Friday — World AIDS Day — many of those currently infected once felt the same way.
Woman after woman told their story, often preceded by the statement “I never thought it could happen to me.”

Stirring up something tasty

The soup and crackers supper, organized to raise funds for Christian Community Action, is available between 5-7 p.m. today at the Ruston Civic Center with a $3 donation and can of meat as the admission charge.
