Waiting on winter to wake up

That’s a good question. Everywhere in the continental United States, with the exception of the Colorado Rockies and the state of Maine, temperatures are well above seasonal averages.
Louisiana is averaging about 21 degrees over normal, but that isn’t the only story.
Reuters News Agency reported earlier this week that northern India is suffering its coldest winter in 70 years where a cold snap (26.6 degrees Fahrenheit) has left more than 100 people dead.

RHS, parents partner up

The RHS Parent Teacher Association has formalized their meetings this year and is seeking sponsorship and greater parental participation.
The association members hope to recruit volunteers to serve on committees for reaching their goals. Some goals include the implementation of a biannual newsletter for RHS parents, coordination of parent volunteers in various capacities, the organization of Teacher Appreciation Week, a back-to-school breakfast for faculty and staff and a student scholarship.

Ruston boys, girls stop Byrd

The way the Bearcats (19-6, 1-1) have been Bush-whacking opponents with their “D” these days, a District 1-5A title just might be in the making.
His team’s defensive effort went to the high premium level at the RHS gymnasium on Tuesday night, creating quick confidence and night-long woes for the Yellow Jackets (14-8, 1-2) on the way to a 70-48 win.

RHS squads home tonight; Simsboro girls ranked No. 1

The boys’ team will go for its initial win against league foes.
That’s the scenario for the Lady Bearcats (15-8, 1-2) and Bearcats (18-6, 0-1) tonight when they play host to Shreveport’s Byrd High School.
The girls’ game is set for a 6 p.m. tipoff and the boys’ contest at approximately 7.
That’s the lone home appearance for any Lincoln Parish school this evening.
Grambling High travels to Monroe to take on St. Frederick, Cedar Creek goes to Oak Grove, Choudrant treks to Downsville, Dubach heads to Gibsland-
Coleman and Simsboro busses to Dodson in other action.
