RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY TO PURCHASE PROPERTY FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SPORTS COMPLEX
WHEREAS, the City desires to develop a Multi-Sports Recreational Complex (the “Sports Complex”) for recreational purposes between Highway 167 South and South Farmerville Street in the City; and,
WHEREAS, in order to develop the Sports Complex, the City desires to acquire additional property in that area; and,

Charter school completes first week

Ford: We’re excited to have new academic year started

After a journey that began back in 2012, Lincoln Preparatory School will complete its first week of class today.
Gordan Ford, Lincoln Preparatory School executive director, said the process to open up the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved, kindergarten through 12th grade Type 2 charter school was long and winding, but the school is finally open.
“It’s exciting,” he said. “Everyone in the school is excited — from the students on up.”

GSU, TSU Fan Days set for Saturday

With just over two weeks remaining until kickoff for the 2016 football season, Louisiana Tech and Grambling State universities will hold their local Fan Days Saturday.
Tech actually will kick off the festivities when the Bulldogs take over Bossier City for an open practice at 4 p.m. today at Freedom Fields followed by a meet and greet from 6-7 p.m.
The Bulldogs then return to Ruston for the annual Fan Fest inside the Thomas Assembly Center from 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday rior to an open scrimmage at Joe Aillet Stadium at 7 p.m. that night.

Techsters volleyball enters final stretch of fall camp

One week from today, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team will load up on a bus and head to their season opening tournament, the Redhawks Invitational, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
That moment can’t come quick enough for the Lady Techsters who have spent the past two weeks working tirelessly in preparation for the upcoming season.
From the moment they walk into the Thomas Assembly Center at 6:30 a.m. and until the moment they walk out following a team dinner, the Lady Techsters are leaving it all out on the court, knowing that every practice counts as the season sits just eight days away.

Tech soccer game cancelled

Due to the current field conditions and the threat of more inclement weather, Louisiana Tech’s season opener against Murray State that was scheduled for tonight at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex has been canceled.
Ironically, the last time the Racers were set to take on the Lady Techsters in Ruston in the season opener in 2012, the match also got canceled as a result of wet field conditions.
Tech will now hope that rain holds off for Sunday night as the team is set to travel to Beaumont, Texas, to take on Lamar.
