Troupe Dixie held Reels and Chills on Oct. 27 at the Dixie Center from the Performing Arts’ theater. In the morning, the Halloween movie, “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” was shown to children in the community. Troupe Dixie donated funds raised during the event to Junior Auxiliary of Ruston. Many at risk for lung cancer

Smoking, once considered a social norm, has undergone a drastic cultural change to become looked down upon in more recent times.

With Thanksgiving soon approaching to usher in the season of eating, my thoughts turn to culinary exploration. What will I cook for everyone? Should I try a new recipe, or stick to the classics? Usually I don’t stray far from the traditional during the holidays — it is tradition, after all.
