Louisiana Tech University wasn’t about to be picky about how they started off the 2013 Western Athletic Conference softball tournament with a victory on Wednesday night.
The game’s only run was registered when Lady Techsters’ freshman infielder-pitcher Anna Cross scored in the bottom of the fifth inning on a wild pitch by Texas-Arlington pitcher Teri Lyles.
It was all Tech (27-24) needed for a 1-0 win that moved the tournament host squad into a second-round game today at 2 p.m against No. 2-seeded New Mexico State (35-18).

GSU softballers upset JSU; Tigers win, ’Dogs smacked

in

Grambling State University’s softball team keeps misreading the script.
First, they weren’t supposed to be even in the 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament being held in Decatur, Ala.
But the Lady Tigers (10-34) earned a berth during the final weekend of the regular season and now have taken advantage of the opportunity with a 5-4 upset over No.1 seeded Jackson State University in opening round play on Wednesday.

On March 29, the Ruston Police Department received a report of an armed robbery at the Hampton Inn.
According to a press release from the RPD, a lone male subject, armed with a handgun, allegedly entered the hotel lobby and demanded the cash from the register, then left without further incident.
