Sports have long been a part of Lincoln Parish history, and the staff at the Lincoln Parish Library wants to showcase it along side the “Hometown Teams” Smithsonian traveling exhibit.
To do so, Nick Davis, reference librarian for the library, has asked residents to loan the library items related to the sports history of the parish.
“Right now we have gotten quiet a few donations,” he said. “We have gotten some Tech memorabilia, a lot of Ruston High memorabilia as well as some Cedar Creek items.”

Bringing tourism to North Louisiana

Billy Nungesser said he knows what it’s like to be fighting for the underdog.

After riding out Hurricane Katrina in his Plaquemines Parish home, his demands for help for the sparsely populated South Louisiana parish went worldwide.

In 2010, when the Deepwater Horizon spilled oil on Plaquemines beaches and wrecked the economy, Nungesser, by then the parish president, lost no time in bluntly criticizing the cleanup efforts.

To hear him tell it then, in both catastrophic events, the big boys had been pointing fingers instead of solving problems.

When he first told me he was joining the Air Force, my heart fell out of my chest.

NCLAC says goodbye to one of their own

Slaughter, Jessica 2015.jpg

The NCLAC office has a number of announcements today. First of all, Executive Assistant Tess Stickney is leaving us for marriage and a new city.

This means, however, that we must search for a new NCLAC employee.
We are seeking a part-time Executive Assistant who will work closely with me, planning and executing NCLAC’s programming.
