051816 ClubNews C.jpg

Janece and Louie Miller rallied the Caney Lake Good Sammers to “sally-forth” to the Louisiana State Fairgrounds in April for the Louisiana Good Sams Rally — themed “Rockin’ to the Oldies.”
Going to the main building, they registered, some got “first-timer” badges, put tickets in for door prizes and received “goody bags.”
After that, what else was there to do — because it was lunch time — but car-pool up to go to Superior Grill for some Mexican food.
Everyone had on their red vest or red shirt, so the table looked outstanding.

Proposed amendments sent to aldermen for OK

It took Ruston’s Planning and Zoning Commission only a matter of minutes Monday night to endorse 10 proposed revisions to the city’s zoning code.

The revisions, which basically tweak items already covered in the code, now go to the Board of Aldermen for final approval.

“Most all of these amendments are minor changes to keep our code current,” Zoning Administrator Jim Hays said.

The proposed changes also make the code less restrictive, he said.

When Dave Guerin took a “leap of faith,” he set out to shed around 130 pounds.
After two years, Guerin finally reached his ideal weight of 190 pounds.
“I feel great,” he said. “I feel and look a lot better than what I did two years ago and it was something I needed to do.”
Guerin, who serves as Louisiana Tech University’s director of public relations, said he began his weight loss journey after feeling tired, sluggish and kept buying clothes at big and tall stores for many years.

A Robeline man was cited with disturbing the peace after being struck by a train in downtown Ruston.
Ruston Police Department Deputy Chief Clint Williams said the department responded to a call at 10:19 p.m. where a man had been struck by a train.
“Upon arrival officers found a man lying on the ground on the southside of the railroad tracks, about 50 feet from the North Monroe railroad crossing,” Williams said.
The person was identified as David Berry, 21, of Robeline, Williams said.
“The man had an injury to his head and was also highly intoxicated at the time,” he said.

TUCSON Ariz. — Perhaps health is an issue for Louisiana Tech’s golf team when it comes to postseason play but that seems to play in the Bulldogs favor. Despite fighting an illness and slight fever the last few days, Jacob Wyatt carded a team-leading and season-best round of 1-under-par 71 as play opened Monday at the NCAA Golf Regional in Tucson.
It seems to be a familiar theme for the Bulldogs. In his first regional appearance as an individual in 2014, Victor Lange fought through a bout of shingles and scarlet fever to record a top 25 finish at the San Antonio Regional.
