Author speaks to Lions Club

The Ruston Lions Club recently had their guest speaker well known outdoor writer Glynn Harris. Harris, who hails from Goldonna, told the group a few of his favorite stories in which he was involved over the course of his lifetime.

Club News: Ruston Civic Guild

The Ruston Civic Guild met for its May meeting at beautiful Toma Lodge where members enjoyed a delicious salad luncheon.
Patsy Bourgeois, outgoing president, announced new officers for the coming year: President, Linda Colvin; Vice President, Delora Gregory; Corresponding Secretary, Kathy Shealy; Recording Secretary, Connie Cozar; Treasurer, Hilda Estes; Parliamentarian, Bourgeois; and Publicity, Shirley Cobb.
Activities for the 2016-2017 year were discussed including a 50-year celebration of the club to be held in the fall.

Excelling on, off the diamond

The Ruston Daily Leader congratulates the Louisiana Tech University baseball team for the Diamond ’Dogs outstanding all-around efforts, both on the field and in the classroom.

Tech hasn’t seen this level of excitement about its baseball team for nearly 30 years. The last time the Diamond ’Dogs received a berth in the NCAA Tournaments was during regional competition in 1987.
