Festival season offers tourism fun for Louisianians

Does this election season have you thinking, “I need a vacation”? Though you may not realize it, you’re actually doing your country a great service if you take one. Whether you pack your bags and travel or state right here at home you’re helping to grow local economies.

Last Sunday, Lincoln Parish did their part by hosting Picnic in the Park where community members came out and enjoyed one of our area’s hidden treasures.

Sparta pickle affects us all

The Union Lincoln Regional Water Supply Initiative board is in a pickle.
Louisiana’s Department of Administration, the government’s management arm and hub of its financial operations, has refused to exempt the ULRWSI from the standard 25 percent match needed for the group to get $538,000 already allocated to it the current capital outlay bill.
Because state law allows waiving the match for regional projects, the ULRWSI figures it shouldn’t have to ante up any money.

Louisiana Tech head men’s basketball coach Eric Konkol added more depth to his ront court on Monday with the signing of LaBarrius Hill to a national letter of intent in the late signing period.
Hill, who goes by the name “Barri,” has spent the past two seasons at Itawamba Community College and now joins recent junior college transfer Omar Sherman, as well as fall signees Jalen Harris, JaColby Pemberton, Oliver Powell and DaQuan Bracey as the newest members of the Tech Bulldogs.

Choudrant to face Hornbeck

Garrett Willingham (batting) and the Choudrant Aggies baseball team return to Class B playoff action at 5 p.m. today as they pay a second-round game at Hornbeck. The seventh-seeded Aggies (16-12) defeated No. 26 Weston 12-1 in first-round play while No. 23 Hornbeck is coming off an 11-0 road upset over No. 10 Quitman.
