ORDINANCE NO. 1631 OF 2012 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 11-300 OF CHAPTER 11 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RUSTON, LOUISIANA, RELATIVE TO POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RUSTON, LOUISIANA:
§1. Section 11-300 of Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Ruston, Louisiana, is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 11-300. Possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids.

Coach Dykes goes West, takes Cal job

Louisiana Tech University’s football team lost out on a bowl berth Sunday and now they’ve lost their head coach.
Sonny Dykes, who had a highly successful three-year stay with the Bulldogs’ program, has been chosen as the new head coach at the University of California.
The 43-year-old native of Lubbock, Texas, and son of former legendary Texas Tech University Head Coach Spike Dykes accepted the position on Wednesday and was unveiled as the Bears’ new leader by Cal Athletics Director Sandy Barbour.

Farmerville native Vergie Page’s family can finally rest easy knowing that their mother’s killer will be behind bars for the rest of his life.
“It was a feeling of relief to know that justice was served,” said Page’s son Curtis Page. “Hopefully, we can move on with our lives now.”

Lincoln schools receive $277K

in
State grant monies to be used for inclusion initiative

In celebration of the 12th annual Inclusive Schools Week, on Wednesday, the Louisiana Department of Education announced monetary awards for schools serving students with disabilities and those earning the Top Gains label for the 2011-12 school year. 
Sixteen districts or charter organizations, representing 85 schools, will benefit from grants as part of the Department’s Believe and Include initiative. In Lincoln Parish, Glen View Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Cypress Springs Elementary, Ruston Elementary and I.A. Lewis schools are all set to receive these grants.
