Ex-Grambling grid star Robinson passes away

GRAMBLING — Former Grambling State University football star Jerry Robinson, whose quickness and speed earned him the nickname of “The Ghost,” passed away Sunday morning at the age of 73.
The Jonesboro native excelled as a running back/receiver for the Tigers of the late Eddie Robinson from 1959-62 before going on to a four-year career in the now defunct American Football League with the San Diego Chargers (1962-64) and New York Jets (1965).
Robinson was picked in round No. 11 by the Chicago Bears in 1962 before being traded to the Chargers.

Techsters celebrate home win No. 500

Members of the Louisiana Tech University Lady Techsters’ team gather with fans, cheerleaders and others to celebrate a 71-58 victory over Texas State University recently that resulted in the Tech program’s all-time home triumph No. 500. The win was produced in a Western Athletic Conference contest held on the Karl Malone Court of the Thomas Assembly Center.

Tech ‘Inside’ hoops show on air tonight

Louisiana Tech basketball head coaches Teresa Weatherspoon and Michael White will review and preview the latest with both the Lady Techsters and the Bulldogs on the Centric Federal Credit Union’s “Inside Tech Basketball” one-hour radio show presented by Miller Light as part of the LA Tech Sports Network tonight at 6 p.m. at Scott’s Catfish.

National Stalking Month brings awareness

Editor’s note: This is the first in a two-part column on stalking. The second portion will run in the Jan. 21 edition.
When I was growing up, “stalking” was something hunters did, to locate and land their prey. In today’s world, the term “stalker” has a very clear and very unpleasant social definition, one known to practically anyone, from elementary school students to grandparents.

MacLovin is around three to four months old and gets along with other cats and loves kids. Gray and white in color, he is a good boy who has had a rough life. Not knowing what has happened to him in the past, one of his back legs has been cut off halfway up. But he doesn’t let that stop him and gets around just fine. His leg has healed, having no medicine or help.

Forum searching for longest married couples in Louisiana

Louisiana Family Forum is seeking “Louisiana’s Top 10 Longest Married Couples” to honor their lasting commitment to marriage and family.
The Top 10 Longest Married Couples will receive an official statement of special recognition from the Governor's office and will be entered into the LFF “Marriage Hall of Fame.” The Longest Married will also be honored with a dessert reception in the Governor's Mansion on Valentine’s Day and will be joined by family, media and friends to celebrate the occasion.
