At 7:09 a.m. May 20, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 15 south of Louisiana Highway 841.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 39-year-old Jamie Woods, of Monroe, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 15 when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Woods was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Don’t wait too long to prune the Azaleas

Hotard, Steven.jpg

This spring, azaleas provided a magnificent springtime show of color. Reds, pinks, purples and white graced the landscapes, but in most cases the blooms have faded and now the evergreen azaleas are left standing and seem to go unnoticed. To keep the spring show returning year after year, azalea care is important. One practice which needs to be completed in the next few weeks is pruning. Proper pruning will help you grow shapely, healthy and attractive azaleas that flower abundantly.

Tech looks to C-USA union

So long, WAC.
Hello, C-USA.
With the recent conclusion of the spring sports season, it’s now official: Louisiana Tech University’s life in the Western Athletic Conference is over.
And this fall, a new era begins with membership in Conference USA.
Fans of the Tech athletics program should be excited for what awaits them in its new league and particularly on the gridiron.
While the Bulldogs experienced a successful stay with the WAC, all member schools were left with few postseason options during the 2012 football season.
That won’t be the situation with C-USA.

in
Stockton, Gary.jpg

Someone asked me the question the other day, “Why does the 4-H program still teach kids to raise animals when so few people start careers in livestock these days?” Reasonable enough question, but the 4-H livestock projects aren’t only about teaching young people to raise animals. In fact, the primary purpose of the youth livestock program is to provide an opportunity for personal growth and development of a young person. Learning how to feed, fit and show an animal is a secondary purpose.

Take a health cue from Jolie

in
Degrie, Elizabeth (New).jpg

I have never been an Angelina Jolie fan. I never quite got over what many people — probably Ms. Aniston included — viewed as her theft of one Mr. Brad Pitt, teen heartthrob to the generation just proceeding my own, from girl-next-door beauty Jennifer Aniston.
