Funeral services for Maxine Lynch, 91, will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Moore. Interment will follow in Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Maxine was born on November 18, 1921 in Vernon, LA to Ella and Henry Bennett. She passed away on May 3, 2013 at Abundant Life Care Home in Fountain Lake, AR.

Kay Terry

Kay Terry, 73, of Ruston, Louisiana, passed away May 5, 2013 of complications associated with alzheimers disease and dementia.

Kay was born October 8, 1939 in Perry County, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Ruston High School and attended Louisiana Tech. She retired from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in 2003.

Fallin, Deering unite in matrimony

Ashley Elizabeth Fallin and Timothy Ryan Deering were united in marriage in a 6:30 p.m. ceremony May 4 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Brian Mercer.

The bride is the daughter of Judge and Mrs. Charles Glenn Fallin, of Arcadia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Gene Goodwin, of Haynesville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jackson Fallin, of Shreveport. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Deering, of San Diego, Calif. He is the grandson of Mrs. Fely Bunk, of San Diego, and Mrs. Georgina Kinder, of Flowery, Ga.

The 15-year-old Knoxville, Tenn., native with celebrate his 16th birthday at the end of the month, but its what happened this past weekend that has him excited and his parents — Sven and Wakako Eklund — beaming with joy.

Youth seminar set for today

A seminar designed to educate anyone working or living with adolescents on the emotional and social pain associated with that stage of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the Trinity United Methodist Church Trinity Center, located at 1000 W. Woodward Ave.
The event, titled “Hurting 101: Understanding Adolescent Pain — What’s Really Happening to Our Kids?” is free and open to the public. The seminar is geared towards counselors, clergy, social workers, school staff and anyone who works with or lives with an adolescent.

Latter-day Saints to host open house

Tours of facility available in Spanish

The Ruston congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host an open house at their chapel from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Thursday. The meetinghouse is located at 205 W. Woodhaven Road.
The newly constructed pavilion has recently replaced a thickly wooded area next to the chapel.

Professor to speak at Tech graduation

Joe M. Pullis, professor of business communication at Louisiana Tech University, will serve as commencement speaker for Tech’s spring graduation ceremony, May 18 in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Graduation will begin at 10 a.m. and will officially end the spring quarter. Summer quarter classes will begin May 30.
