Club News: Pierian Club

Emily Baugh opened her home for the Pierian’s April meeting. Her co-hostesses were Sarah Williams and Mary Ayres. They served coconut cake with a side of strawberries, punch and coffee. The floral napkins were quite a conversation piece because they were brought from San Diego, California, by Baugh when she was there on a trip.
The meeting was called to order by President Carol Johnson. The Pledge of Allegiance and Club Collect were led by Johnson and Sharon Thomas respectively.

Milstead: We’re excited to close this

The Lincoln Parish School Board soon may see an end to a decades old desegregation case.

Information about the case could possibly reach the media within the next few weeks, parish schools Superintendent Mike Milstead said Tuesday.

Milstead’s comments came after the school board spent 30 minutes in executive session discussing the information.

“We’re excited to be closing this out soon,” Milstead said.

The parish school system has been under court orders since the 1960s when schools were order to desegregate.
