Good news may make task harder

You almost have to feel sorry for the Union Lincoln Regional Water Supply Initiative.
For 14 years now, they’ve faithfully made repeated trips to Baton Rouge and Washington, D. C., in search of money for $100 million for a pipeline project aimed at relieving some of the stress on the Sparta Aquifer.
The ULRWSI wants to transmit water from Lake D’Arbonne, in Union Parish, to Farmerville and Ruston. That way, the two municipalities can get off the aquifer, thus reducing by 6 to 8 million gallons per day the amount of water pumped out of the giant underground formation.

Tech duo on Senior Bowl Watch List

Louisiana Tech seniors Trent Taylor and Xavier Woods joined a list of over 400 college football players to be named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl’s 2017 Watch List, it was announced Tuesday.
The Senior Bowl is an annual showcase event for college football’s top seniors and held the weekend prior to the Super Bowl. This year’s senior bowl is slated for Jan. 28, 2017 at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, with the game being nationally broadcast on the NFL Network.
Taylor and Woods are two of 18 total players from Conference USA to be named to the watch list.

REGULAR MEETING OF TOWN COUNCIL
The Town Council of Dubach, Louisiana met in Regular Session Monday August 15, 2016,
at 6:30 pm at the Town Hall. Present were Honorable Robert Jensen Mayor, Council members Ruby Key, Donna Lewis, Robert Colvin, Monique Roberts, Evelyn Graham and Heather Hawley with the Ruston Daily Leader.
Absent: None
Citizens attended: None
The Meeting opened with Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation by Robert Jensen.
Motion by Donna Lewis, Seconded by Ruby Key to approve Agenda as presented (and amended). Motion carried.

Murder suspect arrested in Ruston

A Rayville man was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on charges as a fugitive fleeing another jurisdiction following the fatal shooting of a woman Monday in West Monroe.
Local authorities arrested Isaac Gee, 29, near Tarbutton Road on charges of second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Laquintina Qualls at a Shell gas station on Louisiana Highway 546 in West Monroe, said Glenn Springfield, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office public information officer.
