Students recognized for various accomplishments

Admissions
Cedar Creek will be having several opportunities for families interested in attending in 2013-14 to learn more about the school.
Upcoming events include Peek at Pre-K, Friday; kindergarten screening, March 22; open house and tour, April 11; kindergarten screening, May 3; and open house and tour, May 16.
All events start at 8:30 a.m. and are on the school campus.

Ruston Community Theatre’s ‘Anybody Out There’ to begin March 7

The first performance of Ruston Community Theatre’s “Anybody Out There?” will begin at 7 p.m. March 7 at the Dixie Center for the Performing Arts. The play, written by John Patrick and produced with special arrangement from Dramatists Play Service, will run through March 10.

In the week that they made it into the Associated Press Top 25 poll, it is only fitting that Louisiana Tech University will be going after season victory No. 25 at the Thomas Assembly Center tonight.
But that mark, plus a 16-game winning streak that now ranks as second best in the nation, is the least of the concerns for Head Coach Michael White and his Western Athletic Conference-leading club.

Cameron, Patton look to next level

Ex-Tech stars hope to get boost from Combine appearance

INDIANAPOLIS — Although he played at a small school, former Louisiana Tech quarterback Colby Cameron believes he has what it takes to be a quarterback at the next level.
And last weekend, he aimed to do that in front of coaches and scouts at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Cameron, the younger brother of Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron, was a throwing quarterback at this year’s Combine, meaning he was brought to Indianapolis for the specific purpose of throwing to the draft-eligible wide receivers, tight ends and running backs.

RHS, Creek set for Altick Classic action

Ruston High and Cedar Creek High will have a busy weekend of baseball, thanks to the annual Trey Altick Louisiana Prep Classic.
The Bearcats and Cougars, along with Lincoln Parish neighbor Choudrant High, will be among numerous participants in the three-day tourney that begins today and continues through Saturday.
Here’s the schedule of games involving Ruston, Cedar Creek and Choudrant:
• RUSTON (all at RHS diamond): Today, vs. St. Amant, 7:30 p.m.; Friday, vs. St. Charles, 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, vs. Walker, 9:30 a.m.; vs. Belle Chasse, 5 p.m.

Funeral service for Alcy “Buddy” Campbell, age 77, of Dubach will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 1, 2013 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Connie Smith and Bro. Eddie Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

LINCOLN PARISH Waterworks District # 3

LINCOLN PARISH Waterworks District # 3 of Ruston, Louisiana met in a regular meeting on this date. The commissioner's present was, Mr. Jack Allen president, Mr. Randy Snow, Mr. Ralph McVay, Mr. G.W. Kimble and Mr. Willard Anderson. Also present was Mr. Chris Harris, manager. Mr. Allen opened the meeting with prayer. Mr. Allen presented the agenda for adoption. There was one change to be made to the agenda. Mr. Snow made a motion to adopt the agenda as printed, Mr. Kimble seconded the motion and the motion carried. The next item on the agenda was to approve the minutes from the last meeting.
