Being on stage may not be for everyone, but for the 63rd Miss Dixie Gem Peach that is where she belongs.
“I missed being on stage,” Angela Cassels said. “I grew up playing piano, dancing and singing, when I started college I never had opportunities to perform.”
Cassels, 23, said she started competing in pageants for the scholarship opportunity and once she began competing she realized something very important.
“You gain so much confidence in yourself just by stepping on that stage,” she said. “Competing in pageants has been a very valuable experience for me.”

“The event was a huge success this year, thanks to the amazing number of people who participated,” LifeHouse founder and Executive Director the Rev. Cathy Brewton said. “We brought in right at $14,000 to support the ministry programs.”

Remember real meaning of Independence Day

The Fourth of July isn’t just fireworks, food and fun in the sun.
Independence Day is a reverent, joyous celebration of the freedom we hold dear to our hearts living in the United States of America. This year, like the 236 others that have been marked since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we remember our roots and those who fought to give us our freedom.
The Declaration of Independence began as a document listing grievances Americans had with England, but it turned into a document of freedom that changed our country, as well as the rest of the world.

Changes abound for Tech, GSU

in
Boatright, T. Scott.jpg

In the immortal words of Bob Dylan, “The Times They Are a-Changin’.”
That’s certainly been the case with our Lincoln Parish Colleges over the past as we’re seen the Dan Reneau era come to a close at Louisiana Tech and the Percy Caldwell era end for Grambling State.
Reneau’s last official day as Louisiana Tech’s president was last Friday, with Les Guice set officially taking the reigns of the university on Monday.
But that doesn’t mean changes hadn’t already been happening for Tech. Guice has already had to make some key decisions and finds himself preparing to make another at that.
