Meth arrests

False report leads to drug charges

Three individuals were placed under arrest for various charges, mostly relating to narcotics, after the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 165 Bradford Road, in Choudrant in the early morning hours of June 9.
After receiving a report of a suspected home invasion, deputies arrived at the scene where they encountered Brandon Patrick Bloomer, 25, of 165 Bradford Road, Choudrant; Sonya Ann Streeter, 29, also of 165 Bradford Road, Choudrant; and Linda Kaye Ezell, 37, of 415 Harper Street, West Monroe.

Man facing obscenity charges

A Ruston teen was arrested for allegedly exposing and gratifying himself in public during the afternoon hours of June 7.
According to reports, the Ruston Police Department received a report of a male exposing and gratifying himself in the area of Magnolia Avenue. The witness reported the suspect as being completely naked in the playground area of Huckleberry Park and gratifying himself while watching the witness.
The witness stated that when the suspect realized he had been noticed, he fled the scene.

KSA awarded engineering job

Choudrant aldermen approve $808K budget

KSA Engineers, a newer player in the area, has been awarded the engineering contract for a Lincoln Parish municipalities Louisiana Community Development Block Grant application.
Unfortunately, Village of Choudrant Mayor Bill Sanderson told the KSA representative not to get his hopes up.
“I don’t have high hopes for this project to get funded,” Sanderson said.
The proposed LCDBG application, if approved, is to have Jones, Myrtle and Mardis streets repaired.

Call leads to bust

A Dubach man was placed behind bars in reference to breaking into a residence and drug charges following a call to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, when deputies with the LPSO arrived at 447 Pea Ridge Road, Dubach at 9:13 p.m. Sunday, they made contact with Russell Gareth Smith, 27.

Four individuals, relay team honored by sportswriters

Ruston High’s track and field team is being rewarded for one of its best springs ever.
The District 2-5A champion Lady Bearcats and Bearcats have four individuals and a relay team on the 2013 All-Louisiana prep squad announced today by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
First-year javelin throwing star Michael Courtney was the lone representative for the boys and earning honors for the girls were state champion quartermiler Hannah Siegmund, javelin thrower Kristen Clark and high jumper Quanese Jones.

Techsters’ signee on national squad

Louisiana Tech signee Tori Charters is one of 30 finalists for the 2013 Canadian Junior Women’s National softball team.
Charters, who was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and who just graduated from Keller High School in Texas, advanced out of approximately 80 participants attending two regional evaluation camps in Canada.
